Anyone that has done it?

Do you regret it?

Or would you recommend it??? I am afraid that it will contain bugs that affect my site while on the other hand, I saw a theme that I like very much but it only supports 1.7...

so I need some insights on 1.7 overall, thanks guys

First I would suggest you read these forums, so you can learn for yourself what the issues are

https://www.prestashop.com/forums/forum/2-prestashop-news-and-releases/

https://www.prestashop.com/forums/forum/273-172x-current/

Then I would suggest you review the change log for PS v1.7 and determine for yourself if there is a particular need for you to upgrade.  What exactly in PS v1.7 do you want that PS v1.6 doesn't already have?

If you think you still want to upgrade, then determine what theme and modules you are currently using in your store, and see if they exist and work in PS v1.7

There are a lot of great reasons to upgrade to 1.7 but you first need to determine if your must have modules and if you use paid theme that  it or similar is available.

Once you know if all your shop features are currently available then create a devcopy of your shop and try the upgrade.

1.7 and beyond is the future and 1.7 has native features that will help in performance arena but also new 1.7 compliant themes will support a  lot of new modules than cannot be written for previous versions of PS.  So there is going to be a lot of must have features to compete against more US centric ecms.

so check if your current modules have 1.7 counterpart, and see how  upgrade process works for you.

We have done several upgrades and are now doing 1.7 client upgrades.  We like it a  'lot'.
