Color picker filtering without combinations

Hello guys.

 

I wanted to let our customers filter products by color (color picker/ color icons). Problem is I don't know how to assign color to product without attributes. I mean I have same prodcut in different variants, but they are added as separate products. When I add color as combination there is a color on product page which isn't needed.

 

Is it possible? I know I can assign colors as features, but it will not show fancy color picker in filter block:)

If you need color information you need to add it so someone can search for it.

 

If you don't need color, then don't add it.
