new sort sequence in productlist

Is there a correct way to add a new sort sequence in the product list?

Look at this page http://www.degrootste.be/90-utp-ftp

My cables has a logic that if they are sorted on reference they appear from small lenght to larger lenght within the same product.

so for me a very good alternative so people can see for ex. all green ftp cables in ascending order.(because my reference are like : FTP-0.5 and FTP-2.5 ....

any idea what I can do to change this list and add one more : sort by reference?

hi. you need to modify the class product.php in classes folder

You find in this section the query for show the products.
