hippooflove
Hi AllI have been looking through the forums and it seems that nobody is able to answer the question regarding a module for XML feeds from suppliers.Although the issue is about modules I feel this is a general question as a lot of people with shops etc could benefit with XML facilities in Prestashop. Is it because nobody knows how to do one or it is not possible to create one?A number of people have asked about XML feeds without any luck so far. I feel it would be good to try and start a general discussion on the subject.Regards to all.Barry
Timpet
I guess nobody want to make a module for a specific supplyer, because very litle people can use it. Neither there are very little money in it or there is lack of interest for at free module.
hippooflove
thanks for the reply Timpet.Maybe I am missing the point, but I thought if somebody produced a module it would be a fit all, like , a newsletter, payment etc. I have seen a few people in the last week asking for one. It is possible on OScommerce and Magento I think. They are open source.here's hopingBarry
Timpet
People make modules for free when they can use it for them self If none of the people that can create modules need one like you ask, why should they make it? The reason why other shop systems has a module might be because someone how could make it, needed it Or someone payed for the creation Not all xml feeds look a like you know
Stаn
Why don't you invest some time to prepare a requirements specification and ask for a price quote in the forum? If such module do not exist free/payed, may be someone can develop it.

hippooflove
Hi stanI think you will find that has been done on a few occasions. Most get no replies. I think I saw 2 in the last few days alone. That was the reason for my question. I was wondering why all the other main open source systems have the facility but Prestashop does not. I did not want to start a war. I would rather stay with Prestashop if I can, however if it stops my business being efficient and earning cash then I have to consider other options.Barry
Timpet
how much are you willing to offer in such a modul? AND what is it supposed to do exatly?
hippooflove
Thanks TimpetNow that is a good question. You made me think when you said there is more than one type. I have just looked on a search engine with this question and have found around 20 people wanting an XML feed module for their products using Prestashop. What I wanted was: I have a seperate White Label site, (not a brilliant one) with one of my suppliers products on, as availability changes all the time. So what I do is direct customers from my Prestashop site to this other site. However they will send me a XML feed by email on a daily basis so I can incorporate their products into my Prestashop site and update it. I may need to do the same with another supplier in the near future as it keeps things up to date easier.Hope that explains it a bit. I will talk to my suppliers on Monday. get an exact spec and contact you to see if you can help.Hippooflove
jhnstcks
I have a module that can import xml/csv files into prestashop, it was given to me by a friend who paid for it to be created.I chose not to use it because it overwrites the whole database everytime you use it, which isnt suitable for me. Although if your product_id stays the same it wouldnt be a problem as it would just overwrite the same product into that product_id.It doesnt generate the images immediately but it comes with a cronjob file which when you run it will generate the images. Its quite complicated to use, took me a while to get it to work properly as there are no intstructions with it.Features--------* Fast import of products from CSV og XML files.* Possible to resume the import if the maximum run time is exceeded.* Automatically creates categories and sub-categories.* Setup for mapping of CSV or XML fields are saved in the database.* Images are fetched and resized on demand.* A cron job can handle the resizing of the images at nights.I have a test site if anyone is interested

But some suppliers give txt files, cvs, ets. Im developing a automatic import tool. When is finished, i publish in the forum
JamesMcVunt
This would've been a great feature to add but I agree with the lot of you that it's gonna pricey to develop such a feature. If you guys can send me a message about the specs, I might be able to help you. One of my cousins is a developer and maybe she can give us a quote.
kidnkorner
Sorry if I sound naive but you guys are talking about how the merchant site gets a feed from a supplier site to maintain correct stock levels, right?
