Problems importing products due to import feature only able to import category by name and not id

Hi

 

I have a large csv to import and have hit a problem ive searched for answers but not found them.

 

Some have said you can just use the category id instead of the category name but i have just found this to create a category with that number..

 

Some have said pre 1.5 versions of Prestashop had the import option to use category ID to place product in the correct category, I cant say but would rather not have to go back and install older version and don't even know if what i read is correct regarding that.

 

So im thinking the easiest way surely is to change the code in the import control files to use the category id and not the category by path..

 

Are there any bright sparks that could tell me how to achieve this??

 

Im using 1.6 and have no restrictions server side...

 

 

Would be a nice to have this option to use category id instead of category name and using paths in future release..

 

This problem forced my to look into using other eCommerce platforms but after testing half a dozen personally Prestashop is light years ahead which makes it even more frustrating..
