On my ecommerce: http://www.daragonaricambi.com/presta/

 

If I go in sub category "Folletto & Bimby" http://www.daragonaricambi.com/presta/12-folletto-bimby , I see the list of products of the various sub-category.

 

I want see the thumb of sub-category, not the list of products. See this examples: http://www.griffineffects.com/238-modifications

It depends on your template. Check the theme's  configuration module and display subcategories there. Then, make sure products are not in the folletto&bimby category, reach the layered navigation module and disable displaying products from subcategories. This way, subcategories only will be displayed
