sapper6fd
Hey all. As a default, Prestashop requires you to check the "I agree to the terms of service and will adhere to them unconditionally. (Read the Terms of Service)" check box during the checkout stage. I would however like to add an additional check box that customers must check stating they have read and agreed to our shipping terms. How is this done? tuk66
I would simply add the shipping terms to the terms of service. Another solution depends on your theme.
sapper6fd
Thanks for the reply. Although I was hoping this wouldn't be the case, I kind of figured it would be theme dependent and the solution would be to add the shipping terms to the TOS. Thanks for your reply. I appreciate it! omaryulmontes
Hi Sapper6fd, Boy, it's been a while, and it looks like you worked it out already. However, at the risk of arriving late to the conversation, I reply because I have a similar issue. My store is located at https://promatespost.com During the shipping step of the checkout, I need to add three additional checkboxes stating that customer: - accepts $4.00 service charge - accepts $2.00 transaction fee - accepts $2.00 gratuity I have accomplished this using the Prestashop module "Custom Checkout and Customer and Address Fields manager" However, since the customer is accepting additional charges by checking the boxes; I need for those amounts to show up on the next step of the checkout process (Payment), reflected on a separate line and calculated as an additional amount into the total sale. Moreover, the one thing I do know, is that I know nothing; not even where to begin to make these adaptations. And so, in my infinite noob wisdom, I noticed that if I enable the Gift Wrapping option, I can set the additional cost of $8.00, and when the customer checks the box; the additional amount is magically calculated right into the total at the Payment step, exactly as I need. Consequently, if I could somehow change the properties of the Gift Wrapping checkbox, and make it a "Required Checkbox" (Like the terms of service); then in theory, all I would need to do is modify the translation files, some thing like: - I accept the service charge, transaction fee and gratuity. I understand there will be an additional $8.00 included in the total of my order. And voila.. Ah but alas, so close... and yet so far... again, I have no idea how to go about changing the properties of the Gift Wrapping checkbox, to make it a required checkbox (like terms of service).. Lol, I thought I was pretty good, and I feel USELESS! So I was hoping maybe tuk66 could point me in the right direction. Many thanks! Omar

Omar During the shipping step of the checkout, I need to add three additional checkboxes stating that customer: - accepts $4.00 service charge - accepts $2.00 transaction fee - accepts $2.00 gratuity That is a 'lot' of checking. Why not include this as a service charge in the shipping, hide it. Also I highly recommend looking at high quality one page checkout module. The all for the most part allow you to add 'fields' to checkout page. However that is not going to automatically add the to cart order. This by itself with make your shop better, using 5 step is painful and fugly. I use this on my shop and recommend (install/configure for client work). https://addons.prestashop.com/en/express-checkout-process/8503-one-page-checkout-ps-easy-fast-intuitive.html to add those three bits to cart, you will need expert dev...I suggest posting in job offers and there are lots of young dev's looking for work. I am not looking for work...I'm looking for siesta. Hope this advice/feedback is helpful. el
omaryulmontes
Thank you so much El Patron, For your reply, for the time you took to understand, and for your valuable advice.. All of your points are well taken, the thing is, in a nutshell, I've created this store in order to have a means to work in my own town, as I am a food delivery driver, and I currently have to drive 90 miles into Los Angeles every morning, and then 90 miles home every night, in order to be able to work and pay the bills. I have been doing this for two years and that's the reason why I am trying to get this store off the ground. And I really need just to get it going right now (just so i can work locally), then once up and running, I'll be able to hire expert developers and will be looking to do so for sure, to keep improving the store and experience... Although I am definitely going to take your advice and use the module you recommended, I followed the link and checked it out, and I agree the 5-step checkout is cumbersome and should be streamlined for a better customer experience.. thanks for calling my attention to that point.. Lastly, it seems that I am so close to being able to start taking orders, if I can only make the Gift Wrapping checkbox mandatory like the TOS; it would be the spark that lights the fire. I know that for a Master such as yourself, such a crude solution must be terrible.. If you can somehow view it as a temporary fix and point me in the right direction, brother I would be eternally grateful... I know there is so much more that I need to do to improve the store and customer experience, and I plan to; however, if I can't get this thing off the ground to begin taking and delivering orders, I may not be able to do any of it. Hope you understand, and might be able to explain how the heck to require the Gift Wrapping checkbox, because as the only expert in this forum who took time away from siesta to help; you've earned the dubious distinction of being my only hope. Thanks again El Patron.. Omar
