Prestashop vs Magento for Poster & Finearts store

Recommended Posts

Hi friends,

I am new to this forum & and would appreciate your guidance in help me decide between prestashop vs shopify vs magento. My first priority is to consider prestashop for its simplicity of learn ing factor (as I have heard from various reviews, correct me if I am wrong here).

I will brief my requirements of features for desired storefront. Can anyone share their inputs if all these can be easily accomplished with prestashop storefront? (if not magento, or any best options available).

Store: To sell posters & artworks (printed on paper or canvas) targeting only one country (India). To begin with 2000 to 3000 products & it might expand to 5000 to 8000 products in a span of 1 year. Customers can buy posters or art with (framed or stretched canvas options) or without (rolled canvas or poster) any addons. And in case of framed options, then the buyers can select between metal / wooden frames (again many choices under wooden, or metal frames with choice of color, quality, design & thickness). If choice is stretched canvas, then the options are mostly thickness.

Question 1: Can product attributes combination for buying an optional frame as mentioned above (like metal, wooden, or selecting frame design types) be easily configured in prestashop. (where attributes also include an image of frame type as similar to example in

http://www. fizdi.com /26line108-handpainted-art-painting-32in-x-32in/ . Do I need any add on modules or extensions or can I do it with the default prestashop features.

Question 2: Are there any default options to disable right click & save the product images. (To give more clarity on the design of poster or brush stroke patterns of artworks to buyers, I prefer to upload images in higher resolutions. Avoiding watermark looks more appealing, but protecting the images is essential here. Are there any reliable modules available with prestashop.

Question 3: If giving an option to buyers to upload their photos or images as in print on demand service, how is it possible? Any prestashop extensions available for that purpose.

SAAS enabled ecommerce service providers like shopify, zepo etc has more flexibility of integrated logical shipping partners, regional payment gateways, deployment to multiple market places (like ebay, amazon, flipkart etc) & considering those add on facilities without much technical worries, such offers are tempting to go for them. But, they all might not let me extend product options as needed for a poster / art store; so I have narrowed down to prestashop or magento. But, I am confused if all these requirements can be put on a store running on prestashop without much difficulties & using available modules (either free or paid extensions) without the need to hire a prestashop coder. If prestashop doesn’t work, is magento a right choice?.

Thanks in advance & waiting for some insights.

Obliviously we are going to suggest PrestaShop over Magento. If you go to the Magento community they will suggest Magento over PrestaShop.

Answers to your questions.

1. Yes totally, PrestaShop has a very powerful attribute system.

2. Its 2015, no one does that anymore.

3. There are modules for that but I have personally never used one, so I cannot comment on them.
