Which PHP Version Should cPanel Use ?

Recommended Posts

Not really that you can do inside cpanel. I would say build the server with MPM Worker, fcgi, and Opcache. Maybe add APCu too. It all depends on what you are doing and what you need with your site. Using fcgi will create issues if you need long running scripts.

On that note, if you are using suPHP or CGI you will not actually use Opcache. I would turn the handler to fcgi or DSO and the system will actually use it.

We currently recommend 5.5 with Opcache installed.

I have tested PHP 5.5 with Opcache in production (VPS, Debian 7 x64, nginx 1.8.0, PHP5-FPM 5.5.28), with no apparent problems so I can second this opinion.

Dh42, have you also tested PHP 5.6 with PrestaShop? If yes, what were your findings? Thanks!
