Top navigation menu bar has altered. Unsure why.

Hi All, 

 

Pretty new to this but managed okay in altering a template for a new shop however was struggling to alter the colours so switched back to default theme to see if I could do it on there but lost the top navigation bar. 

 

I switched back to new theme but still the same. Presume I have unticked something somewhere along the line. Tried reinstalling the new theme but still nothing.

Any help would be much appreciated. Also on changing the font and colour on the template, is this a global.css file amendment I need to do? or is there a more simple way of doing this? 

If not what do people use to edit the file?

Thank you Vekia, might be silly question but how do i do that? I uninstalled the theme and reinstalled from original file but still nothing. Do i need to replace the block on its own? If so how I do this?
