Starting up with prestashop

Hi every1,

 

 

Please let me say sorry in advance for my bad english.

 

I just got a job from my supervisor to "continue" our company online store. development which have been abandoned by the previous developer. I really dont know what to do, or where to start 1st. I tried to seek for answer and I cant seem to find it. please help me.

 

1st, how to download the files and stuff from our webserver? Because its half done, and I am going to continue it instead of starting from zero. I cant find the "Create FTP user as instructed here

 

2nd, can i develop the prestashop without the prestashop back office? Because i can change some of the default picture in it ( womens clothing and stuff) but there are also some of the default stuff that i cant remove/change (maybe i didnt find it, or I cant change it without back office).

 

If you have a good tutorial for beginner, I would be grateful if you can link it to me.
