JDub1337
Hey everyone, I am trying to get something to work and am having no luck figuring it out. For my product Subcategories I would like to have a different image for each (125x125px) WITHOUT having that image generated for both the Subcategory and the Subcategory Description once you click the link. I have a specific set of images I would like to use for the Subcategory thumbnails, and I would like the Description to remain WITHOUT that image, but no matter what I have tried it keeps populating. I have worked with adding a new image selection and modifying the category.tpl file with no luck. I have the Category images which I would like to keep for the main categories for my website (five total) that do not have thumbnails as they are in the Home/Parent category. Also, with the image themselves listed under img/c/en-default-medium_default/image_name.jpg there is no way to upload the image per subcategory and change the file name to that of what is in the system. It will simply generate the one image for ALL of the subcategories. Can somebody help me out here? I do not think it is all that uncommon to want to have Subcategory thumbnails and not have that image appear in the description once the link is clicked. I am enjoying PS 1.6, but I cannot understand why simple things like this are not included? Especially since if you do not upload an image, it simply reads "No image available" and looks unfinished and unprofessional. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. JDub1337
I believe I have figured it out. Under the /img/c/ folder within the PS 1.6 directory you have to create a few files. The category I was working with was 11 so after I uploaded the thumbnail version I wanted to use (125x125px) in a .jpg format I went into my photo editing software and created a blank white .jpg file with the dimensions of 870x217px. I then saved the file as 11-category_default.jpg and uploaded it into the place and overwrote the automatically generated file from PS. It is now appearing as a white background and the subcategory thumbnail is displaying correctly. Hopefully this helps someone in the future. YoyoLuke
Hi JDub, I was trying to achieve the exact same thing, and thanks to your guidance I managed to do it, al-be-it in a slightly different way. The thumbnail images for the subcategories (the ones that are 125x125) I found were the ones labelled as (for example) 11-medium_default.jpg so all I did was simply make a 125x125 thumbnail equivalent (as to be fair the thumbnails I wanted were actually drastically different to the menu bars I had used for each sub categories main page) so for this category thumbnail it now looks like the below, compared to the others which are simply squashed versions of their subcategory banner: Many thanks for your post bud - saved me having rubbish thumbnails! I think it's ridiculous though that Prestashop doesn't give you this option - ironically the category page in the back-end actually has a 'thumbnail' image option, but I have no idea what this is for or where it goes!
