Adding Google Shopping Category field to product

I am curious if there is a way, or if anyone has even tried adding a permanent drop down field or "tab" in the product (add or edit) screen called "google_product_category" that google can then reference when you create a feed.

 

It seems to me that it should be fairly simple to do "if you know PS coding", and the google category data is readily available to upload to ones database. If implemented, when adding a product, one could just click the drop down and select the appropriate google category.

 

This of course would not have any impact on the shops actual category scheme, nor would it be visible to anyone else but google when you create a feed as part of the products data.

 

Just curious if anyone has any thought or know how on this.
