Mobius2000
Hi everyone,First of all, love the software, my hat goes off to the developers and the community that have made this as good as it is.I have quite an urgent request to have a module created to allow for EWAY (Australia) payment gateway to be used for Prestashop. I see that it has been requested before yet nothing seems to have come from it.I was hoping to find out how much money it would cost to have this developed? I am trying to tempt interest in the project with money but not sure how much the development would cost so to anyone capable of doing this, please give me a dollar figure and I will see if I can meet it.Unfortunately, even though I love this software (and I do), it will be useless for me if I can't use the most common payment gateway in Australia so this would be a crucial module for most Australian users (at least a lot).I look forward to hearing back from you all.Richard. Mobius2000 or anyone, just wondering how the mdule is going for you? Also, do you a australia post module working with Prestashop.I am interested in using Prestashop but seem to hear that I have to buy all these modules to make it work? Are there any free modules for eway & aust post else this OS cart is not as free as I think it is if I have to buy all these add on unlike Zencart or Oscommerce. Mobius2000
Hi there.I have not yet implemented the eway module as yet (simply not ready for it yet) though I have spoken to the author whom I had produce the original of this for me and he has told me that there have been several users buy it and implement it without a hitch. He's a helpful bloke as well so any problems and he's very quick to assist. In regards to free Aus based modules, there is no free eway module, unfortunately you will have to pay for this one. There is however a module for Aus Post and Bas Statement (tax) completion.- http://www.prestashop.com/forums/viewthread/7388/P45/modules___development/auspost_integration post #47- PM me for the BAS module if you want it, I can't find the original forum I got it from but can PM it to you. To any moderators watching, I am not trying to break the rules, just can't fin it again, please add link if you do find it so proper credit can go to the developer. Before I start this paragraph, please know I am in no way affiliated with Prestashop other than a very happy user... In regards to comparing between Zencart, OS Commerce and Prestashop, I personal give Prestashop a 7-8/10 where as the other two around the 4 mark. Prestashops interactivity is awesome with the web 2.0 features. There are some areas lacking so I would never suggest Prestashop for a massive online store, I am doing one for a client that will be selling about 500 phones and it is going smooth as silk though I am not sure how much bigger I would be happy to go.As a website designer, I like to utilise multiple systems for different scales and needs, if you have a client that needs huge product lists, I find OS Commerce a little more user friendly for both end-user and client. For smaller jobs though, Prestashop wins every time. The only reason I rate OS Commerce for larger jobs is because of the huge collection of modules for organising etc.To sum it up, Prestashop rocks, OS Commerce has great points... Won't even discuss Zencart. :-pHappy to discuss further if you'd like a bit more in depth info.Richard.
risky
Hi Richard,Thanks for the post, that is great to know.I am all confused at the moment..started thinking about using Zencart, then Magento and then Oscommerce and now Prestashop. I am not a developer but a end user, so need something to use that is quick & easy with short learning curve.Ok, so Zencart sound is a bit clunky and templates are pretty ordinary - i have ruled that out, and I am convinced Magento is not on as it srtugggles on shared host.I've heard there a product called Interspire but is licensed and is costly but comes with all bells and whistle including modules for aust post, etc.Would you know anything about Interspire?I am looking from a cost point of view also, that is, if I got an OS cart free and then added all cost for modules, time to configure and any other costs Vs buying a off the shelf licensed product like Interspire or X-Cart, etc -- which one am I going to be better with in the longer term?I shall let you know as I get further into it. Mobius2000
Hi Risky,I've just spent the last hour playing around with Interspire... It's backend is BEAUTIFUL (exactly where I would like to see Prestashop go in the future). I find it a little too restrictive for my liking however as you mentioned you are effectively the equivalent of a web designers client (shop owner), I would certainly encourage a closer look at this system, it seems pretty reasonable as a plug-n-play system. It doesn't have a shred of the web2.0 features that Prestashop has which was a big draw card for me as a designer (means I can offer a client something different to most other freelance designers) but for your needs, I personally think it would be a better fit for you.Likewise, if you liked the front shop interface of Prestashop, I'd be more than happy to assist you in either a custom design/implementation and/or simple installation assistance. As an Melbourne based designer I can assist with implementation of Australian based needs into the shop.Sorry, didn't mean for this to become a sales pitch, more about offering my opinion on Interspire vs. Prestashop.
