I have a dedicated server, but it is not enough : if i activate the category block, the response time is very very slow if i deactivate, everyting is good, and fast. The reason is that i have more than 1000 categories. And each time i display a new page, it is slow because it will display all categories with their subcategories. Consequently, Im looking for a solution in order to show a block category, on the left column, with only the subcategory of the current category. Who can make the modification for me please ? kevin78 Posted January 1, 2014 Author Share Posted January 1, 2014 Yes i use the cache. I cant decrease the maximum depth, because the usefull subcategories are from level 3. For the level 1 and level 2, I use a module with a drop-down selection. But for the level 3, i need to display clearly the subcategories on the left column for my visitors. tmm08a Posted January 17, 2014 Share Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) Have you tried timing everything to see where the bottleneck is? We had an issue loading a category with ~86,000 items, and ended up having to override the Category class so we could optimize the queries.
