Looking for a new "bloc category" for my shop with 1000 categories

Recommended Posts

Hello

I have a shop, v1.5.4.1

And there are more than 1000 categories.

I have a dedicated server, but it is not enough :

if i activate the category block, the response time is very very slow

if i deactivate, everyting is good, and fast.

The reason is that i have more than 1000 categories.

And each time i display a new page, it is slow because it will display all categories with their subcategories.

Consequently, Im looking for a solution in order to show a block category, on the left column, with only the subcategory of the current category.

Who can make the modification for me please ?

Dont send MP, please send your proposition here before.

Yes i use the cache.

I cant decrease the maximum depth, because the usefull subcategories are from level 3.

For the level 1 and level 2, I use a module with a drop-down selection.

But for the level 3, i need to display clearly the subcategories on the left column for my visitors.

I want to display subcat for the selected parent category

like this ;

http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/3943-only-display-sub-categories-when-parent-is-selected/

http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/48033-solved-categories/

For example :

APPLE (level 1)

phone (level 2)

   accessories for iphone 3

   accessories for iphone 4

   accessories for iphone 4s

laptop

------------

SAMSUNG

phone

tv

accessories

------------

LG

phone

tv

accessories

------------

So when i have selected

Apple > Iphone

I want to see only the subcategories below :

   accessories for iphone 3

   accessories for iphone 4

   accessories for iphone 4s

And hide all other categories / subcat

Have you tried timing everything to see where the bottleneck is? We had an issue loading a category with ~86,000 items, and ended up having to override the Category class so we could optimize the queries. You might have to do something similar here as well
