New shop configured from Dashboard but still need to make template edits

Recommended Posts

About finished creating shop using the included default web template that comes with PrestaShops.

So far I've only used the "Dashboard" to "design" the site but this seems more back-end than actual customer-facing "design"!

There are still elements on the web site that I do not want to see.  Things that editing via only the "Dashboard" hasn't removed. For example:

1- I still see a 5-frame slide-show (of only Apple products) even tho I deleted all images that came with shop and added all my own images!

2- I see in the left column "Manufacturers" "Suppliers" and "Information"..  In the right column "Our store(s)!" and "Contact us".

There must be another place to correct the design / edit the look of the store.

I guess I'm just supposed to use any HTML editor to finish the look / design or is there something I'm missing under the dashboard?

Hi mudshark,

1. In the Back Office, select Modules -> Modules, scroll down to 'Image slider for your homepage' and click Configure. There you can set the slider up to use your images.

2. Select Modules -> Positions, then click the Run Live Edit button. Each block will be outlined and there will be a trash icon in the top right corner. Click on this to remove a block you don't want.

No HTML needed!

Cheers, Dave

Dave!  Thank you!  Perfect, acurate, and clear.  Cannot thank you enough.  I /expected/ to be able to edit every element of the page from within the Admin dsahboard, just couldn't find it.  Thanks again.

I looked thru your answers to other people.  You are a treasure.  On behalf of anyone who ever seem ungrateful... Thank you.

That said, I was about to start another topic but, if you can answer quickly in reply here (and I bet you can!), I'll just get lazy & post my follow-up question here:

How do I edit the footer?  "Free Shipping" or "In-store exchange"..  Uh. No.  On-line only and shipping is expensive for /some/ items.

There are these 4 or 5 icons (w/ Free Shipping one of them) that I need to either change or removve, then under those is a short site map / links section that needs editing..  Where is THAT modeule?

Thx much

RG

I thought I saw a pattern emerging...  So I went back to Positions > Run Live Edit to see if I could tell on my own how to know which module to use to control what screen elements..  Surprise!  Customer Reassurance is *not* one of the elements I'd have found on my own that way!

What about that section UNDER Customer Reassurance? What module is THAT?

Are you just immersed in PrestaShops or do you just have good documentation?

Thx

RG

Well I don't know about 'immersed' - your questions just happen to be ones I can answer (so far!).
Below the reassurance block is the footer, not a module in its own right, but it does contain other modules such as My account block for your website's footer and CMS Block.
Thanks, Dave
