Multilanguage support

Recommended Posts

Dear forum,

Our Prestashop is running at http://sisterunika.dk but we would like to handle international customers at http://sisterunika.com thus the default language will be en at the .com site.

The multistore PS feature is great for sharing data like items, customers, orders etc. But some things we in doubt how to fix:

1. How to set a site-default language, e.g. so that the language at the .com domain will be "en" language?

2. When a customer uses google and searches for our company name sisterunika at google - some links will point to the .com and some will point to the .dk domain. How do we deal with this in a smart way?

3. We have no experience with the multistore feature however we would like to share data like items and item group. Could you please share your experience with the sharing data part and what are your recommendations?

4. When running in multistore mode - do we then just need to upgrade the "main store" or do we need to take all shops down and upgrade them all before they will be put online again?

Thank you kindly in advance.

1. simply configure the default lang for the .com in the back office

2. searches outside of .dk will see the gTLD .com, those inside of dk will be in that country.  That is the 'true' power of multiplexing your content by ccTLD (.dk).  They will also be orgainically directed to the shop search links by their language.

3.you can share or not share lots of different features by shop.  see guide for more info

4.I don't really understand the question, you would be advised to have any upgrades done prior to multistore this to decrease complexity.
