puffdade
When I try to configure the specials block from modules all I see is a display or do not display check box I have looked through the products to see if they have to be selected to be added to specials but can't find anything. Can someone point me in the right direction please Im currently using 1.5.4.1 Thanks in advance
PascalVG
If I remember well, a special is shown in the specials block when the product somehow has a discount. The one in the (default) right column block shows a random special product. Clicking the link 'see all' shows more of them. My 2 cents, pascal
vekia
by default configuration of specials block allows to - display block only when you've got "special" product (product with lowered price) - display blcok always - number of displayed products randomly this is what you've got there? vekia
it's probably because in 1.5.4.1 there is no cache for this addon :| what module version you use?

PascalVG
Puffdade, the "Number of Cache files: 20" in Vekia's screenshot DOESN'T let you show more products. What it does is it keeps 20 specials-products in memory (i.e. cache) so that it will have a group of 20 specials products to choose from to show in the specials block (The one located default on the right column, showing 1 product). This is done to speed up the reload of a page, as finding a 'random' specials product is a slow process in SQL language (The language to talk to the database) In your version 8, there may not be this cache, renedering it probably somewhat slower, but furthermore in functionality there is no change. It still shows 1 random product from the group of specials products. If you want to show more products here, you have to really change the module's code. If it doesn't show you any product, try this: Go to a product you want to show as special product (i.e. discounted product) go to the prices tab and scroll down a little. there you see the "specific Prices" part. Press the button "add a new specific price" You'll get a screen where you can add a discount for the product. See the PrestaShop user Guide for more details about the screen: http://doc.prestashop.com/display/PS15/Adding+Products+and+Product+Categories#AddingProductsandProductCategories-SettingthePriceofaProduct Add a discount of 5 % (see my screenshot example) Save the specific price Reload the front page (Maybe use Ctrl-F5 to really reload) If everything is all right, the product will be shown here as special product. Hope this does the trick, pascal
