rgwhitaker
It seems like whenever I visit a PrestaShop site, it's just plain slow. Even coming here to the PrestaShop website, or Modulebazaar results in a lagging response time. Presteo-Changeo's site isn't too bad, but it still lags a little. I'm looking into a PrestaShop website, but if it's slow, I can't have that. So, back to my original question: are PrestaShop sites just inherently slow? Dh42
Its all subjective. This stock Prestashop site is pretty fast, bijouthings.com infact, http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/cuPti9/http://bijouthings.com/ it is faster than 87% of tested websites and it has no optimization for speed. If you use a bad server, you are going to have a bad time. I pay $6 a month for the hosting on that site from ramnode.
benjamin utterback
Hi rgwhitaker, thanks for the message. PrestaShop stores are not inherently slow. As I'm sure you know, there are an innumerable amount of factors that go into a shop speed that include but aren't limited to, Customized code quality, additional modules, server speed, your internet connection, picture size, database size, caching efforts and the list goes on. There will always be websites that load faster than others but PrestaShop default speed is good. Here are some articles that have tips on how to increase the speed the your PrestaShop store. http://www.prestashop.com/blog/en/top-four-tips-increasing-speed-your-prestashop-store/ http://www.prestashop.com/blog/en/10-best-tips-to-speed-up-your-prestashop-store-3/
