ERROR "To use Smart Cache directory must be writable."

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am trying to use the "Media servers" in Advanced Parameters > Performance.

I set up 3 new domains that are hosted on a different server and changed the folder permissions on them to 777.

I have also changed all of the folder permissions below the following and including the following to 777 MySite/cache/smarty

When I save the new settings I get the following error: "To use Smart Cache directory must be writable."

Can anyone tell me what folders are being referred to, and what should the setting be?

Also, is there more to setting up the Media Servers than simply entering an URL to a spare hosted directory somewhere?

Where can i find a good tutorial on that subject?

I'd like to use CloudCache but it is a bit expensive Costs a lot more that Rackspace's system but we don't yet have a module for Rackspace.

Thanks

Follow up.

I've also tried redirecting the three domains I am using in the "Media Servers" to the same server/directory as my site but still I get the same error message. The idea of sending the three domains to the same directory was to establish more browser connections to the site, but the site seems to change the URLs back to the site's URL anyway so I do not know if it would make any difference.

Still trying to work this out. Would appreciate advice or a link to a tutorial on how to set up the "Media Servers" and to stop the error message.

Thanks
