Using product visibility

I have a number of products that should only be visible to a specific group of registered users (already set up). Most of these are replacement parts that go inside our "main" products, and we only want to sell them to people who have had training on those devices. So most users, including unregistered and Google, would see just the "main" products, but the users in the group would also see these replacement parts.

 

I see there is a setting in Product for visibility, but that seems to be global, not tied to a group.

 

Any suggestions on how to implement this?

You are right about the product visibility setting being global. If you would be interested in a paid solution we have a module that will allow you to set up different rules for various groups. The module is called Retrospect and you can read more about it here

Hi Maury.

 

Can you move these "special" products in their own category(-ies)? If so, you could then set this category as accessible only to the desired customer group.
