PS1.5 Missing USPS / PayPal modules. Help to get them back?

Recommended Posts

I am migrating from using previous versions of 1.4.7 and 1.5 seems like a fantastic upgrade. It seems snappier and the back end is more pleasant.

One irk is: Why are essential modules such as Paypal, and USPS missing?

I had to find a download a seperate Paypal module which is fine, however USPS is no where to be found, and the closest match is in the excess of a hundred dollars. This was previously bundled in with 1.4 and now it is asking for a hefty price.

I understand 1.5 has a built in shipping module, but a module that calculates up to date shipping based on zones from the carrier itself would be great.

Am I missing something or has anyone else witnessed the same problem? Googling does not help unfortunately.

Cheers :)

Edit: On many websites it simply says to go to Dashboard > Modules > Shipping and Logistics > Install USPSCarrier

I do not have this module in my 1.5 setup but do in my 1.4.7. Please advise.

you will most likely have to download the module and install manually (ie. upload module via FTP). should be on the prestastore (free)

Just a heads up, I had issues with every shipping module not working in 1.5. so be prepared to use the built in module if you don't want to buy a premium module. Haven't tried USPS but I did try UPS, Fed Ex, and Canada Post. All Failed. fedex worked but glitched my site, took 20 seconds to add product to cart.

I wouldn't mess with the USPS free module in 1.5. I don't think anything has changed in the last week, never could get the Prestashop PayPal or USPS modules to work. Just go look at the modules thread for PayPal....

Presto-Changeo has a working USPS module with nice features, I have it on my test site now.

My USPS module was $75.00, the free module does not have the features I needed and the Pestashop module was not stable anyway.

I love the ability for customers to estimate shipping without log in. Just put in a country and zip code to see actual shipping, plus it updates as they add products. I'll pay for a good module like that, no regrets. For once, I received a shipping module that works and has good support. Compared to other carts, Prestashop is a huge bang for open source and the modules are priced well below other options. I built my store for far less than what I've spent with other cart software.

P.S. Presto-Changeo has a sale going on too, so its actually less than $75 right now.

I just checked and yes it is under $75. It is still upsetting to pay for a feature that was bundled in previous versions. I am running a test prestashop 1.4 and it has USPS rate calculator feature built in natively.

You can always down load the free modules off the addons site. But, the USPS one is not plug and play IMO. PayPal is OK I think, the module works as far as I can tell. But, playing with the free modules and themes put a hurting on my data base, I don't recommend playing with them. I've got a data base error now that has me stumped, I figure its due to all the theme changes and modules I've tested. But who knows..

I agree with jmsb. I am new to Prestashop but am struggling trying to understand why basic and essential functionality like a USPS Shipping module doesn't work and/or has no documentation.

I installed it and received my userid from USPS. I got an error, upgraded to most recent version and am now getting an unauthorized error. I thought I'm still in test mode and found the api call in xml.tpl and sure enough it's only configured for production status USPS account.

A basic step by step implementation checklist would be very helpful, if I can get this module working, I will create one.

I want to avoid purchasing modules as they will need to be upgraded and I'm locked into an endless circle of paying for new versions.

Depends on who you purchase the module from as far as upgrades go. Presto-Changeo offers free upgrades on the module mentioned above if the generation is the same. Even then the upgrade from the old module with less features is very reasonable. Its a great USPS module too. I did not find any "free" USPS modules that supported weight, size, multi box and International.

USPS modules need current in "production" credentials to work. So if you have a "new" USPS API skip the testing phase and ask for the production server from the start. Just explain your using a shopping cart with the USPS option already configured.
