Error 403 when accessing BackOffice module tab

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am very new to this forum as I just registered. I have been searching this forum and more over the web to find an answer to my question but couldn't find it yet.

Well my problem is a bit wired, I have seen many people with the problem that the module tab is not showing up in the back office, well for me it is showing up but when I click on it i receive this message:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /adminXXXX/index.php on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

One very important details is that everything was working find until today. The only change I made that might be the root cause of the problem is : trying to install a new module from a link.

This installation failed and i only try to access the module tab tonight which failed.

The module I was trying to install was http://www.ecartserv...to-prestashop/.

Can this be the problem, even though i couldn't find it on the server as the installation failed.

What I have already tried is to get rid of useless modules as it seen that it can solve my problem (didn't change anything), trying as well to change the rights on the file > this led to more problems so i revert back to original settings.

I am currently using the prestashop version 1.4.8 as I can't update due to a theme that won't be available for the new version of prestashop anytime soon.

So my question is, how can i get access again to the module tab ? is there a way to reset the right or to rebuild something to make it work again.

I made a backup of the DB earlier today should I use it to get access to my module tab ?

more details about my config :

Server information

Prestashop Version: 1.4.8.2

Server information: Linux #1 SMP Thu Jan 26 14:55:34 UTC 2012 x86_64

Server software Version: Apache/2.2.X (OVH)

PHP Version: 5.2.17

MySQL Version: 5.1.49-3-log

Thank you very much for your future help. I hope it's going to be an easy one as I am a bit stuck if i can't access my module tab.

Best regards

David

hi elpatron,

thank you for your answer.

Well I just checked what was the permissions for the "modules" folder it is set to 705 which if i am correct is the default setting.

I have tried to change it to 777 but this doesn't seem to have any effect on my problem unfortunately.

Thank you anyway for this lead, any other idea ?

hi again,

well the problem didn't came from the permissions but from the folder of the module which failed to install.

What I really don't understand is yesterday the folder wasn't visible on my server and today I got two folders, on of MACOSX and one ps_cumulus (the not working module). After deleting both, the problem sort it self out.

To be honest I really don't know what happened yesterday as I could see those two folders.

Nevermind, the problem is solved.

Thank you so much elpatron for your help.

Best regards,

David
