Make page titles unique/better for SEO

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to make each page title have a unique description dependent on the information on it, rather then generic and only have the site name on every page title. This would surely improve SEO?

For example, on this amazon page, the page title has the name of the product in it:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0571202284/ref=s9_simp_gw_s2_p14_i2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-1&pf_rd_r=0GTB88FA68H1KFT0XTPZ&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938131&pf_rd_i=507846

Opposed to it just saying only 'Amazon'. Any ideas how I can tweak prestashop to do the same?

I'm not quite understanding what you're saying. That link you posted is HORRIBLE for SEO.

Product links on my site appear as

which is a hellvua lot better SEO wise. It has the product name, color, size, etc.

How could that not be good for SEO? That Amazon example you posted is truly terrible.

how do you get the page titles to do that? (like on your site)

on my version of prestashop, every page has exactly the same title, which is just the name of my shop. there is no product info. supplier info etc, which would obviously be much better for SEO.

AFAIK this is normal behavior in prestashop. On the catalog/product pages you can additionally add some seo parameters to enhance for example url rewriting. Maybe you broke something in your template files that your titles do not shop up.
regards, trip
