Maury Markowitz Posted December 12, 2012 Share Posted December 12, 2012 Hi everyone, I'm looking over a couple of pre-rolled e-commerce solutions and looking for the one that fills as many of our little requirements as possible. I'd like to ask you all about a few of these. The "big one" is that we want to have multiple regional stores. These will differ only in minor ways - some products may be here but not there, we *might* want to have local pricing, and we'd probably want to have the ability to do manual translations of product descriptions. Most of the other packages I've looked at don't really do this sort of "skinning". Instead you have to make separate stores for each location. I'm not too worried about the setup side of things, but I'm very concerned that our support staff and shipping people would have to look in multiple places for orders and such. Yeah, I know you can export them, but that's not the same thing. So, how does Presta handle this situation? Does it have the ability to have a single store and offer up multiple "skins"? When I found that none of the "big three" supported this I was mystified - it seems like it would be a common requirement. Moving on... (I realize this information is likely out there already, but finding a "yes" is easy while "no" is difficult) Our current sales system is based on a traditional wholesale distribution model - we have a suggested retail price and then discount off of this price. Once again, it seemed that this is something with spotty support across the packages - Volusion has discounting based on group membership, Shopify does not. So, is this something that Presta handles? We do *not* want to use a coupon system. We would either need a fixed formula percent discount, or to have a separate price list entirely. Or... I'm thinking that instead of a fixed discount, we might want to award loyalty points instead. This means we have a single price list for everyone. For example, you can bunch all your wholesalers in a Wholesaler group with specific prices, shipping carriers, discounts, product selections, etc. In other words, there would be "fixed" formula percentage changes. But in the second one you mention a fixed percentage discount. Is such a fixed discount only one of the options available?
