thinkofmedia
Is it possible to hide a category and its products from the search and menus. But have it available only via a url link.As I need to add a section to a website for a client which is only for their linked customers. And keep our existing visitors away from it. pmemedia
Hello, same issue here. I created some categories that should be only be available to a certain group of clients but products are still showing in search. Is there a way to remove items from the search results if the user doesn't have access to the category in which the item is ?thanks.
renamed_account_45578
I'm looking for same feature, any response?
tomerg3
The best way to handle it is to create a new customer group, assign the customers you want to give special access to that group, and set the category with the products to only allow access to that new customer group.Add new customer group = Customers->GroupsAssign a customer a group = Customer->Edit -> assign new group.Assign a category to a group = Catalog->Edit Category-> check the box for the group you need. noesac
I created a new category called Hidden and disabled it, and moved all products I want hidden into this category. I’m not sure if this is the best approach though but I couldn’t find any other way!

noesac
I didn't see that, good tips:)
noesac
Actually I don't know if that would work for what I'm doing. Basically I have some old products that I no longer sell, but there are many sites that have linked to them, so I don't want to really hide them. What I want to do is remove all trace of them from my site, but if someone clicks through from an external link, then it's still visible.
tomerg3
That is different that the original poster's needs, or the rest of the people in this thread. What you did will work, but it will probably still show up in your site map, and will be accessible from search engines.
