activated tax excluded in groups in backend but still shows in cart total

Hello,

 

I've activated tax excluded under all groups in backend. This works as all prices in the front end are shown without tax, and the cart displays "prices exclude VAT" (I adapted this from the standard poorly translated English version) however the total price in my sliding cart module still shows with tax, I want this to show without tax until they go through the checkout process. How do I achieve this?
