Hide newsletter signup form when email exists in database

I would like to hide the newsletter form in BLOCKNEWSLETTER for users who has already signed up for the newsletter. Is there a way to do that?

Ok, i'll try and explain som more.

 

If a user has already signed up to the newsletter, this will be registrered in the cookie, and the blocknewsletter will not show for that user. Is this something that's possible to achive?

it sounds like you simply need to customize the blocknewsletter module so that

1) after someone registers, create a cookie that will persist

2) change the left/right column hook to search for that cookie, and if it exists, do not show the sign up form.

 

The problem with cookies is that they can be deleted, expire or the visitor can simply use a different browser or device that will not have the cookie.
