mwouters
Hello, I want to make a shop with two different navigation layers or two categories. I have products that first of all go into categories like "Bar", "Kitchen", "Living room". Secondly those products also have their style, and are for that also categorized in series, for example "xero series" and "contas series". So the visitor should be able to find it's products using the first navigation type, let's say the purpose of the product, and secondly through a second type of navigation, the series, if the visitor already knows the product series. How can I do this using prestashop? I'm trying to decide whether to choose for Prestashop, Opencart of CS-cart. Thanks a lot!! Mike Kranzler
Hi Mark, You can easily create nested subcategories in PrestaShop, you shouldn't have any issues doing that on your store with us using the "Add a new subcategory function" . -Mike
mwouters
Ok but the contas series can exist in for example kitchen and bathroom categories.. Moreover how can I show them as separate navigation tools?
Mike Kranzler
Ok but the contas series can exist in for example kitchen and bathroom categories.. Moreover how can I show them as separate navigation tools? You can definitely assign one subcategory to multiple parent categories using the dialogue I posted above. However, showing them as completely separate navigation tools may require some custom coding in order to implement. -Mike

mwouters
Hello Mike, I've been thinking about it a little bit more.. maybe I can use the suppliers or manufacturers for the series.. Because most themes display a list of manufactureres just below the category navigation. If I then just change the title "Suppliers" to "Series", it might be alright? What do you think? Any possible snags (hope this is good english :-)) I should take into account? Off the topic, but a pitty that things like the possibility to buy Gift vouchers is not taken standard in Prestashop. Opencart does this in a perfect easy way: http://demo.opencart.com/index.php?route=account/voucher I have more and more clients that ask for a webshop integration, so this study is pretty important for me! So you might come accross other qustions from me on this forum :-) Best regards, Mark
Mike Kranzler
Hi Mark, You can easily change the wording to "Series" in your Back Office under Tools > Translations > Front Office Translations. You can also try out our Default Layered Navigation Module, it may be helpful in achieving the look you're seeking. As for your question about vouchers, PrestaShop offers more than 275 features by default and have even developed partnerships for the specific purpose of offering you complex modules and features at no cost to you, but unfortunately that doesn't mean we provide every single feature that every one of our users wants on their personal site. This is something we are always adding to, but unfortunately at this moment this is not the case in our current version of PrestaShop. -Mike
mwouters
Thank you Mike. You indeed have a lot of standard functionality in Prestashop! This was just one missing that I think might be used a lot. So, just a suggestion for a future release! Thanks a lot for your help! Mark

LaVallDesign
Hello I am Spanish and my English is not very good. You may not have understood. But one category can not be linked to more than one category. Really? Only allows me to select one category. I need a subcategory related in more than one category. This is possible? Thanks you.
