Mixed up

Recommended Posts

I have been experimenting with my website. I removed some modules, I moved some blocks with LiveEdit and then I changed the theme to New2 theme of Lika - a theme that I chose because it has no right column - and then I changed it back to the default. The result: a mess:

- I have two shop baskets on the screen. One cannot be removed with LiveEdit and this one presses down the whole layout.

- At the bottom of the page the "my account" block cannot be removed and is on a strange place

- I had removed the multi-currency and multi-language modules and that had removed the small icons at the top of the screen. However, since I changed themes they are back.

- It makes very little difference which theme I select. Most problems happen at both. The New2 theme does not use its extra space to the right for its articles.

This leaves me with a lot of questions:

- what is happening here in technical terms?

- how could I have avoided this?

- is there a way to force a reset to default values?

- if I have to conclude that my installation is beyond salvation, which database tables should I copy to my new installation and which should I leave behind because they have configuration data?

I have set the compile and cache options in the right position and I am using the last PS version.

I would appreciate it very much if someone could help me understand why things can go so wrong and what I can do to prevent or repair it.

Hey musicmaster,

I am no prestashop expert..however I was also facing this issue some time back..I used theme installer to install the theme..

my suggestions:

don't use theme installer- directly upload themes and modules folder using ftp

make force compile - yes

decide which theme you want to use..

select that theme itself from appearance...

now go to module section..first of all uninstall/diable all the modules...and then choose the modules which you want to use one by one..the new modules coming from new theme would be there in modules folder in zip file containing theme and modules (if any)
