PS 1.3.7: delete theme files w/o FTP acces.

Recommended Posts

Several months ago I started working on a theme for a client: he asked for several changes, he drove me to exaustion but no matter how much time I've spent tring to cope with his delusions, just when I thought the madness was over, he went bananas. He asked me to upload the site, to configure it, to insert several products and then when the site was ready to be officially launched, he decided to change FTP and database passwords in a clumsy attempt of revoking me access to the whole installation... unfortunately he decided to go out of his mind while I didn't give him his administrative panel password yet.

Long story short, I have the administrative passwords, but no FTP/Database access.

He refuses to pay me, but still demands the administrative passwords.

On a side note, I now understand I was not the first designer/developer being scammed by this individual, and I'm aware he's currently tring to hire someone else in order to get the website online (which basically means saving the theme I worked on, and using it on a fresh PS installation).

While I have no intention of causing harm to him or to his website (by for example stuffing his pages with statements such as “this client is a thief don't ever try to work with/for him” - as it would be unprofessional, childish and probably against the law), I'd love to be able to delete the theme I've worked on for months from his FTP, and leave him with the standard Prestashop theme (before he manages to hire someone and complete my work).

So I was wondering, if is there anything I can do from the administrative panel to gain FTP acces: is there a free module maybe that allows me to brows up to the template's folder and delete my work from there?

Thanks in advance.

Hi aserra,

This is a legal matter, so unfortunately there is not much we can do to help you out or even offer you advice on how to fix this. Additionally, just as adding statements like the one you posted above would be against the law, deleting his files would probably be construed that way. In this case, the only suggestion I can offer is to try to settle this directly with your client, and otherwise consider legal action. Beyond that, there is not much that we can do for you. I am closing this topic, but if you have any additional questions, please feel free to PM me.
