Strange characters apearing on my website since i moved server

Strange characters are apearing on my website since i moved server, i have a load of this character appearing before the start of text , instead of the text appearing as £1.50 its showing as £1.50

and shows up at the start of some product descriptions too,

can anyone help me rid it fromthe database?

ok, i actually fixed this issue myself and thought maybe somebody else might have a similar problem and seeing as the help in these forums is overwhelmingly non existant i will say how i fixed it

i had to change the way i uplaoded my msql into the phpmyadmin, i used bigdump because the database was quite large and i didnt upload it with the right format, it was set on latin1 so any non latin1 character were not showing right, so, if , like me you upload your own SQL then make sure its is set right , in my case i had to set it to utf8 and once installed the problem went away
