Help: Description and add-to-cart form misplaced on product page

I am setting up my first Prestashop store and have made some alterations to global.css and homefeatured.tpl. I have screwed up something affecting my product page. The buy_block and description are no longer appearing to the right of the product image, they are appearing below it. Any suggestions about a fix to get those two items back to the right hand side?

In your Back Office, go to Preferences > Performance and uncheck "Use CCC for CSS." Please let me know if that works for you.

BTW: The Performance page displays the following warning. Is this relevant? To use Memcached, you must install the Memcache PECL extension on your server.

Have you cleared your cache and regenerated htaccess?

First of all, thank you for the quick responses. It is a big help.

 

Do I clear cache within the Prestashop BO? And, regenerating htaccess is done by renaming the file so the new htaccess is generated, correct?

 

I am familiar with these with CMS (Joomla). Very new to Prestashop.

For the cache, you should obviously clear it in your browser, but you can also refresh the cache in your Back Office under Stats > Referrers.

 

And you can regenerate the htaccess in Tools > Generators.

I had cleared my browser cache, and doo so frequently during set ups.

 

I have generated a new htaccess as well as refreshing cache in BO. No fix yet.

Could you try switching to the default theme just to see if this might be something with the changes you made or the Alternative theme?

I have switched to default and all is positioned correctly. I am afraid the remedy may be multiple files.

 

I can reload original files but not sure which file(s) affects this layout.

You might want to try uninstalling and reinstalling the Alternative theme and then test your changes one at a time to try to identify which one might be affecting the cart location.

That does seem like the way to go. I will keep a record of my changes as I go.

 

Newbie clarification here. How do I uninstall a theme? I see where to import a clean prestashop_alt theme (BO>Modules>Themes>Theme Installer).

Unfortunately, there is no option in the Back Office to delete a theme. You'll need to use your FTP client and go to the themes directory, and then delete the appropriate theme from there.

Solved. I reinstalled prestashop_alt and all is fine. I had the center column width in global.css set too narrow which push the div out of position. All is good now.
