"Add a module from my computer" sets files ownership to "nobody"

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm using Prestashop 1.4.3.

I've installed a third-party module using the "Add a module from my computer" feature on the back-office modules tab (Uploaded a zip file). I checked the installed module files (unzipped files) on my Linux hosting server, and all of them were owned by "nobody".

This is preventing me from editing the files since I don't have the root access on this server (I'm using a hosting service). I cannot do "chown" to change the file ownership.

Has anyone experienced this problem? Is this a bug on Prestashop 1.4.3?

Regards,
Soo

It's not a bug in PS, but rather poor permissions management by your host.

On hosts that are configured in an optimal way (or properly if you may), uploading a module from the modules tab will keep it with the same user/group as everything else.

Furthermore, the proper file permissions should be 755, and it sounds like you may have it set to 777 on your server.

If you decide to stay with your host, I suggest uploading modules via FTP.
