Is official PayPal module the best to use ? 1.6 Prestashop.

So I help my sister out on her Prestashop site, years ago I purchased and installed the Agile PayPal module as it was very easy to install as all I needed to do was add the PayPal email address so no need for API stuff. This has worked fine, but my sister has had PayPal staff constantly contact her by phone saying it would be better and more streamlined if she used the official module. So now she wants to use that, fine, but I believe this will mean API codes will need to be added which I am a bit unsure about, I am technical enough to know how to install modules but I am not a expert or programmer.

Given she uses Prestashop 1.6 the latest version of the module that can be installed on that version of PS is 3.18.1. Her contact at PayPal knows we are only on 1.6, which presumably means no GooglePay implemention etc. So does anyone know how this would be any better than the one we already use ? I am not sure why PayPal are so desperate to get her to move to the official module given they get the money regardless of which of the modules she uses.

Also if I do install the official PayPal module is it easy to do ?

Thanks !!

Thanks !!

Ah, the PHP might be an issue, any idea of what PHP is needed ? I will need to find out what we use. Is it relatively easy to install the module ? I know I can click on it in the back office but I presume it will need API info ? Our current one from Agile only needed our PayPal email to be inputted in the settings.

Just out of curiosity, I notice you are a PS freelance expert, if I need help in the future with upgrading and module installation, etc, do you offer that service ? I remember when the 1.6 site was installed (from 1.4) the layout template was bug ridden and I had all sorts of problems. I had a helper then too, who was great, but not sure they are still doing it as it was many years ago. Its always good to have PS experts on my list just in case needed.

Thanks !!
