Make changes to a Theme before activating it

Hi everyone,

 

I do have a site, which is currently online and selling, but we want to change to a new theme.

So, my question is, How can we make the changes of the new theme, translations and so on, check if everything is running well, etc., keeping the old version online before setting up everything and switch to the new one?

Clean install prestashop on other location i.e subdomain, migrate the data from actual store. Install theme, modules etc and then. Set the domain for new store.

Im not sure if i got you right... what do you mean by set the domain for new store?

I've installed the new theme in a subdomain already to make the tests, etc., but im not sure i can i make the migration..?
