Why can't i save combinations?

Hey guys,

just started working on my first prestashop 8(.0.3) webshop.
I am trying to create products with combinations. I can make them and generate them as well in the product. But when i try to save, i get this message every time.

unable to update settings

When i remove the combinations everything saves fine. What am i doing wrong here.
I am not using stock management, in case that would be relevant.

for first webshop I highly recommend 1.7, PS uses a community tested model and they are really never ready for newbie until like 5-10 releases later.  Save yourself a lot  of headache and start over with 1.7
