How do I add an urgent message to be seen by all who go to website

Hi, my friend who runs a business with a Prestashop website has suddenly died and i don't know how to stop people ordering. I need to urgently add a message to say the company can no longer trade. I can get into his site behind the scenes and see some details inc some orders, invoices and the shopping cart page, but don't know how to amend the text on website. I have no experience at all of running a website. 

Any help would be much appreciated.

Also how are invoices made? It looks like some people might have ordered but they are not in the orders or invoices list.

You can turn off possibility to order by turn on catalog mode in backoffice.

Turn on maintainance mode - it will disable the shop and display a message you can configure

As JBW said above goto admin/backend of the store

Goto Configure then click on Shop Parameters

This will open more options, click on General

At the top you should see two tabs Gerneral and Maintenance, click on Maintenance tab

Change Enable store to NO

Then you can add a message in the Custom maintenance text box
