Oxbow8
Hello, I want to do a backup to not lose my website. What I do : 1) In the backoffice, I go to advanced parameters => DataBase (BBD Save) and I download a backup 2) I compress (.zip) the www file containing all my website (including the backup file in the admin folder just created in 1) ) 3) I keep safe that .zip file Is this ok or is there a better way to do it ? PrestaHeroes USA
Hi, backups should be done at hosting. doing backup with module or PS appl, well if PS not working not much help. you should configure your hosting to do daily backups with 3-5 days trailing. My advice stands. Wait until you go remote hosting to configure backups. We recommend esk hosting control panel. Good luck and happy PS'ing
Oxbow8
I don't understand because I won't host my site for maybe 6 months. My question focus only on how to save a prestashop that is hosted in local. In my case with WAMP. During that period, is the database backup in the backoffice enough ? + Saving all my website files ? In the backoffice, 1.7, you have "Advanced Parameters" => "Database" => Backup and you can do a backup in the admin file. I want to know if this saved database is enough to recover the site ? Oxbow8
From what I have understood, to make a backup you need two things : 1) the files of the website 2) the database For 2), the database save via the backoffice gives me a .bz2 file, but the database save via others ways (explained here https://devdocs.prestashop.com/1.7/basics/keeping-up-to-date/backup/) like phpmyadmin gives me a .sql file. What's the difference between the two ? Thanks a lot
