Want to upgrade a old prestashop to new one

Recommended Posts

Hi,
The options are either to do a manual migration (a long, tedious process that requires a good understanding of the internal structure of Prestashop), to try one of the third-party migration tools that exist, or to use the services of someone who dedicate yourself to this and do it to you.
My advice, if you decide to do it yourself, is to create a completely clean installation of 1.7 and then migrate the data of installation 1.6 (customers, categories, orders, products, etc.). And put a theme, reinstall all modules and configure everything in the new installation.

Thank you for the reply.

Once we do the new installation then we need to migrate the data. Data migration process is the manual migration process ? or there is another option for so that our existing data will migrate to new installation. Please let us know

Thanks for the response.

Are the third party migration tools or automated migration services are free or they are paid? Also please list out the migration tools and migration services.

All third-party modules and automated service are paid https://addons.prestashop.com/en/431-data-migration-backup

if you have dev skills or dedicated developer then purchase one of the third-party migration tools and carry all your data to the latest version of PS.

For automated migration service, you can check our signature or can find an agency which will take care of your migration process from scratch.

Have a nice day

Technically you can use (free) 1-click-upgrade module but you will face challenges as architecture changed and most modules and your theme won't be compatible anymore. But at least your data will be there. Never do this on a live shop - first try and document all steps on a test-clon of your shop and ensure you always have recent backups before you do any change in live enviroment.
