No products on main page & add to cart does not work

Products are not displaying on the main page and also when you add something to cart it does not work. Please someone help. It was working fine for 2 years. Suddenly started acting up. 

 

Prestashop version 1.4.9.0

 

Please take a look. Tried removing cache as well. no luck

perhaps meanwhile you upgraed module, or added something to your shop (like some non default module with override etc.)?

please turn on error reporting, will see what's going on there

I didn't upgrade or added any new module. How do I turn on error reporting?

I changed from Use Smarty 2 instead of 3

 

and this is the error i'm getting now

smarty 2 is old version of smarty, if i were you i will not use it.

can you show contents of index.tpl file? problem is there
