  1. Does this stalling issue occur with the default template? What do your Prestashop logs say? There shouldn't be any stalling like that. If you're on shared hosting then that's an issue that should be addressed with your hosting company and to be honest, Prestashop absolutely is too powerful for shared hosting. It's highly recommended to get a VPS or a Dedicated server that way you have full control of your server environnment. As a general rule NO e-commerce solution, NONE, should ever be ran on shared hosting anyway due to the fact you need full control of your server environment for proper managing of the server for security, patching, etc reasons. If you're on a VPS and you set it up yourself there's a possibility you have installed just the default setting of the packages which those settings are never good enough, customised optimisation is required [this is also an issue for MANY shared hosts, they don't care and only have the default settings for packages].
  2. @bcsteeve The birthday option actually should be there because it's illegal to collect PI from children under the age of 13 on the internet. The law is called COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) and has been in effect since April 21st, 2000. . It's actually required by law to obtain verifiable parental consent in order to collect, store, use, or disclose Personal Information from Children under 13 years of age. [At least here in the USA it is, dunno about other countries.] Furthermore, since it's a Federal US Law that means that even if anyones shop is operated on a server located in the USA and you live in a different country you're still required to comply and thus required to keep the Date of Birth section available. This field really should be REQUIRED and not merely a customer choice btw and of course should have an option from the BO to be disabled so that shops who are exempt from COPPA [ex. shops not operated from a server located in the USA.] won't need it enabled.
  3. I dunno when it was implemented but we're using Prestashop 1.6.1.x and can enable/disable both of those options from the Back Office by going to BO > Preferences > Customers There's no need to mess around with file modifications.
  4. What do your logs say under the log folder of your Prestashop install? Are you using a custom template?
  5. You shouldn't worry so much about the <H1> etc tags much anymore, they don't have anywhere near the amount of significants that they did a couple of years ago. Those algorithims have changed significantly. If any SEO shark tells you other wise they are lying through their teeth.
  6. Congrats on the fix. If you would, could you please mark your topic title as [sOLVED]? Thanks.
  7. @jon active Being 'cheap' has no place in business. It takes money to make money with any business. ANY shoppng cart you use will end up costing you money anyway you look at it be it from VPS hosting [which is what you SHOULD be using as a minimum because share hosting is NOT the way to go these days especially for ecommerce], template designs, marketing or PHP developers / freelancers. As I said, it takes money to make money so it's just best to stick with what you know. Every shoping cart has pros and cons about them, here's some that we have used over the years and will list their pros and cons. Zen Cart -- we've used this since 2003/2004 and it's one of our personal favorite carts to use however it has some pretty harsh cons. Pros: Blazingly fast and stable, easy to learn, good community, PCI Certified, gift cards/gift vouchers/gift certificates, multiple email addresses for different business "departments", multiple admin capability, plethora of free add-ons and generally great support. Cons: Upgrading to a new release can be a nightmare if you have a number of add-ons installed regardless of what its diehards say. It's not a modular design so most add-ons are not a drop-in solution and require modding core files. Also since it's not modular design template require you to mess around in their PHP code to get the desired look you want. The one page checkout is a very expensive third party add-on costing a whopping $299. Open Cart -- we've used it for a few years there's seriosuly nothing special about this cart it's merely "ok". It generally only gets high praises from template designers and people who are paid to do reviews. Pros: Fast, easy learning curve to use, nice looking 3rd party templates, super simple upgrades, gift cards/gift vouchers/gift certificates, has a free easy to use fast and intuitive third party import/export plugin [not included by default is a seperate download/install]. Cons: The lead developer and owner of Open Cart is a complete douche and has a serious attitude problem that needs adjusted. Security is not taken very serious by the developers. It's PHP code is generally a hot mess with alot of repeating code throughout. Open Cart is very bottom of the barrel basic and requires pay for 3rd party modules to get any "good" functionality out of it. Most 3rd party modules are pay for and not by a certified company only an individual and may or may not have support nor upgrades. There is no multiple email addresses for different business "departments" if you need that type of functionality it's a hit-or-miss pay for add-on by a third party. Very lack luster community. The bottom line is simply because you are familar with it we suggest sticking with Prestashop. As Naldinho and ragnabt suggested do a fresh install of 1.6.1.x and use your CSV import files [which hopefully you've made] that way existing customers, categories, attributes/options, products, etc can be imported easily. If you have not created any CSV import files as Prestashop as of 1.6.1.x by default STILL has no decent export functionality for those things [it never has], and would require a pay for module to do it and even if you did move to a different cart you'd still need the pay for module in order to export functional CSV product import files that you'd have to convert to suit other carts import methods. You could use the Cart2Cart service to convert but that will end up costing significantly more than the Prestashop CSV Export pay for module. As for categories missing that's more than likely a template compatbility issue with 1.6.x and should be easily resolved with the purchase of a new template.
  8. You have to set Enable SSL to Yes in BO > Preferences > General and also you have to enable the force all pages to SSL. This issue has been an on going issue for along time with Prestashop i've filed a bug report over a year ago about it but it was scoffed at and never properly fixed when it really should be because it IS a bug.
  9. Have you made sure that the mod_rewrite module is actually installed and enabled on your server? Also delete the .htaccess file and let Prestashop recreate it.
  10. Not seeing the same issue you're seeing because they are routing seperately as they should. Maybe clear your browser cookies and try?
  11. I can understand your partnership with bluehost.com and I truly respect that but they don't offer anything different than any other hosting company, in all honesty they really suck these days and are anal retentive about everything. There are much better hosting companies out there with amazing customer service such as Hostgator and BigScoots. I left my shared hosting account I had with HostGator in favor of a VPS from BigScoots, why? Because their support team is wicked fast at resolving issues, even faster response time than Hostgator and they actually respect their customers and talk to you like a human and not as if they are some robot. So yeah there are much better solutions than BlueHost, and the like. Also for the most part, Prestashop works great on every shared hosting solution i've ever tried, but now that i've tried out a VPS solution I don't think i'll ever go back to shared hosting.
  12. It works for me when I click it on your site, maybe you should clear your browser cookies, and browser cache and history. Also, you REALLY should upgrade to the latest PestaShop as there's been alot of security fixes since PrestaShop 1.3.x!
  13. Let's say you have a Category called "Devils Own" and it's ID number is 6 and you want your products in a subcategory called "Alcohol Injections" with ID number 9, within the CSV you will set the Category to 9 that way it only shows within "Alcohol Injections". It becomes really simple once you understand the CSV structure of the Import tool. Here is a link to a great guide right here on the forums in regards to the Import tool and CSV: [GUIDE] Import Products by CSV - PrestaShop v1.4.x. It also has sample CSV formatted files that will help out tremendously for importing. I highly recommend the thread and for you to take a look at it.
  14. As outlined here we will no longer be using PrestaShop until some issues in general are resolved, however the inability to save Tax Rules we have linked to CSV Imports. It seems importing completely breaks Tax Rules saving. We reinstalled on a fresh server, setup a few custom Tax Rules and they saved fine. We then imported product from CSV, and low and behold Tax Rules stopped saving again. Just letting everyone know that if you use the CSV import tool installed with PrestaShop it may break your ability to customize / save Tax Rules.
