  1. Doesn't matter what I do or which forum, blog or even reporting the problem with PrestaShop they can't fix it and get the thing working. I have come to the conclusion that I need different software one that actually works!!! I was on V6xxxx and no problems at all and I have 5 different sites. One I couldn't change from the V6xxx because I was far to into it to start again. But as I was setting up my next site I thought why not try V7xxx so at the beginning I tried it but it fell short, when I heard there was stock management added I jumped at it. The updates came and all of a sudden "MODULES" in backend stopped working. Couldn't upload modules, see modules etc...it just stopped working. Some guy (Vincent Beudez) said to delete "gamification" if it was installed. Well it was installed on a couple of sites but not all, but I tried it to no avail. He wanted more information for my Issue (BOOM-3574) and I gave him heaps of screen prints etc. even prepared to give access to my hosting account, but no he disappeared and gave up?? How can anyone use this unless you are never going to add or change module settings? FRUSTRATED....UPSET AND PEEVED FOR SPENDING SO MUCH TIME TRYING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. Must of had at least 8 updates since the problem and I keep trying hoping the update will fix it. tried wiping everything and starting fresh at least 50 times. AAARRRRHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
  2. I upgraded to 1.7.2.0 from 1.7.1.2 and found that modules in the backend does not work at all, can't add modules, enable, disable or configure??? So I rolled back to 1.7.1.2 all good again. Next 1.7.2.1 came out so tried again, same problem again Modules in back end would not work. I Reported it on Presta Shop issues BOOM-3574 and it was address briefly by Vincent Beudez who asked me to remove "gamification" file and clear cache. I tried that but it didn't work at all. I even tried a complete fresh install on another domain with 1.7.2.1 and still had the module back end problem. I have had no further replies so I think all the experts are stumped on this one. All those who said to stick with 1.6 and not to bother about changing to 1.7, I believe they may well be the brains of Presta Shop!!
  3. SOLUTION - The problem I have found is located in the folder adminxxxxxxx/autoupgrade you will often find folder permissions set at 777 or files at 666, so to fix you change the folder permissions to 755 and files to 644
  4. I am having problems also with this new upgrade 1.7.2 modules doesn't work at all in the back end, no help, no loading of modules, no upload module function, etc. Roll the version back to 1.7.1.2 and works no problem. reload upgrade and again no more working modules function, can't even configure, enable, disable etc. Something definitely wrong with this upgrade, I have same problem for all 4 sites that I have on this version, 3 are upgraded and one is a fresh install as I was upgrading a version 1.6 shop. What a pity ill have to reload 1.6 on that one and delay my new shop layout as I was enticed to make the plunge and change cause 1.7.2 advertised it had finally added stock control.
  5. Yeah, I am looking for the same thing, tried it before with the beta version of click 1 upgrade but didn't work. From all the information I have been able to find the suggestion is that 1.7 is a totally different platform and therefore not compatible for upgrading any 1.6 modules etc. to it. Looks like you are going to have to completely rebuild a new shop although your database should be able to be imported somehow even if you have to do this as CSV.
  6. Walrus, are you still having the MD5 file problem? or is the upgrade starting but then stalling out? If it stalls out and doesn't finish then try uploading the version (in zip) you are trying to upgrade into the file adminxxxxxx > autoupgrade > download just clear any other files or folders out of that folder before you start. Once your zip upgrade version is in there go back and try the click upgrade again. Hope this works for you it did on another shop I had that stalled there.
  7. I concur, if you have the 1-click upgrade and are having the "MD5 file" problem then just go to your files in C-Panel if you use C-Panel and do the following; Go to > admin(xxxxxxxxx) > autoupgrade and in that folder change all folders to 0755 and all files to 0644 It will then work fine.
  8. GREAT - Finally solved this problem after pulling another all nighter on it. It appeared that when the file manager doesn't upload some files properly it freezes the file manager. I ended up locating the files of pictures it had uploaded. Go to img/cms and delete the last lot of image files or if you have created folders to put various images in go into these and delete any images. After deleting my images, it loaded up and worked fine, till another image in a folder I created froze it again. Don't know why this happens as they are the same type .jpg files. Anyway again when this happened I just deleted the last two images and all good again! Hope it works for everyone else that has this frustrating problem.
  9. I found in admin-XXXXXXX\filemanger\error_log the following repeated errors; [*Date - *Time *Area] PHP Warning: mcrypt_decrypt () : The IV parameter must be as long as the blocksize in /home1/myuser/public_html/mydomain.com/classes/Rijndael.php on line 68 think this might relate to the problem of my file manger freezing at 64%? Hope someone can help, I have lots to do on the site and this has me stopped in my tracks for 2 months now.
  10. I thought my issue may have had the same fix, but it did not change any one here have suggestions on the File manager loading (see screen prints)
  11. Yeah mine is similar, loads the file manager 64% and stalls?? Let me know if you find a solution, Cheers
  12. I found that 777 doesn't work it has to be 755 and especially in the same folder as Preston is operating ...sorry forgot the folder he is located but should be esy enough to find with a search.
  13. I have a problem with Preston - he doesn't work and is in my way - Any Ideas Guys? (see attached Screen Print) Stalls when press start. Does nothing when press later. Does nothing when press X to close. FOUND A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM - Something to Note with any backend or front end problems. I have found that permissions need to be changed to 755 especially "index.php" files as nothing happens until they are changed from 644 or 666 to 755. In this particular case I had changed the files to enable the main and admin "index.php" file permissions to 755 which allowed the site to come out of a 500 error and be seen. However in Modules/Welcome there are also "index.php" files that I had to set to 755 to allow the welcome to your site Wizard with Preston to Operate. Whilst all folders are by default 755, it appears that files are having problems unless they too are set to 755
  14. I have experienced delays in the install which caused the back end to not be accessible. Can you see if your ADMIN folder is still labelled ADMIN or has it now been changed to ADMIN - XXXXXXXX with numbers and or letters after it? If the ADMIN folder is just still ADMIN then the installation was not successful or is delayed. If it has numbers and/or letters after it then you will need to access it via http://yoursite.com/admin-XXXXX (as it is in your files on your server or hosting file manager. then just use the email address that you used for sign up and your nominated password to access when the login comes up in the browser. Hope this helps.
  15. They say that the admin folder is renamed during install and I found this happened on the version 1.6. You are then given and address to go to which is something like http://yoursite.com/admin-4653291 the added number is your registered and setup administration which I am guessing is for purchasing of other modules to extend the function ability of your shop. However saying this I have now downloaded Version 1.7 to put on another domain of mine and having all sorts of problems, some which extend to file and folder permissions which you can set for each of your folders and files in your file manager if you use C-panel with a hosting site. I was able to change the permissions on some files like index.php to 755 in order to have the site function, but are having a similar problem cause although I am now accessing the backend (admin area) I have this little preston bird character saying welcome to your site im here to show you around and two buttons 1) lets get started 2) Later I tried lets get started and the thing just hangs and goes nowhere. I try Later and also the cross at the top to close the popup but it wont go. It is frustrating as I can see the back end menu etc and want to start on the site but have no access. Now getting back to your problem, my folder also was named ADMIN and I was accessing that at first but after about 2hrs it changed to include numbers and letters after the admin ....similar to the version 1.6 just there was a huge delay. I am concerned that maybe the fact that you changed your folder name before it had time to finalise and re-name. You may have to try re-installing it and then walk away and leave it for half a day see if you also have a delay. they also tak about changing some settings in your PHP.ini file if you can access it, if not may need your hosting company to either mke it access able for you or do the changes for you....hope this has some help.
