Where is the version of prestashop saved , in which file, so that i can reinstall presta 17.5.0 again. had upgraded but due to slow connection the upgrade stopped in the end. Now in debug mode all works fine but when debug mode is switched to off then it gives error 500.

yes i did this also, but on disabling debug mode error 500 starts showing up n i lose access to admin control panel.

I enabled the debug mode via ftp, now i could access the admin panel as usual, no errors showed up. in defines.inc i also enabled display errors. I cleared the cache and now its working fine. Thanks

Try to go via ftp > cache folder and delete or rename class_index.php they Ctrl +F5
