  1. Turns out the Database was intact after all. I pulled up a backup and imported it, but I had the same issue. So I folowed the following steps: Installed PS1.6.1.5 on a sub domain Installed 1-click update updated to 1.6.1.24 imported my backup DB, and everything was working (i.e. all my data was accessible) dumped the tables, and imported the suspected corrupt database, and whadda you know, everything was working. after that it was just a case of dragging over my theme, css, modules and the rest of the stuff that makes a website tick. So all in all there must have been a corrupted file somewhere, but the shop was back up and running within a coupe of hours, so obviously I'm a happy camper!
  2. JBW, I appreciate the response, but could you elaborate just a little? what exactly should i be asking my hosting company? Thanks, Dave.
  3. Hi All, I have a problem that maybe one of you can help me with. If I try to access the front end of my website, I get the maintenance message. If I try to enter the back office I am prompted for my UN & PW, but then I get a screen that only shows the penguin. I have made sure that maintenance mode is not enabled, and I have enabled debug mode. When I look at the exeption logs, I see the following: on 5th of Nov: *ERROR* 2021/11/05 - 21:48:39: Link to database cannot be established:SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] Connection refused at line 102 in file classes/db/DbPDO.php *ERROR* 2021/11/05 - 21:48:39: Link to database cannot be established:SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] No such file or directory at line 102 in file classes/db/DbPDO.php *ERROR* 2021/11/05 - 21:48:39: Link to database cannot be established:SQLSTATE[HY000] [2006] MySQL server has gone away at line 102 in file classes/db/DbPDO.php *ERROR* 2021/11/05 - 21:48:39: Link to database cannot be established:SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] No such file or directory at line 102 in file classes/db/DbPDO.php *ERROR* 2021/11/05 - 21:48:39: Link to database cannot be established:SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] No such file or directory at line 102 in file classes/db/DbPDO.php This continues until: *ERROR* 2021/11/05 - 21:48:48: Link to database cannot be established:SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] No such file or directory at line 102 in file classes/db/DbPDO.php *ERROR* 2021/11/05 - 22:32:38: Shop not found at line 404 in file classes/shop/Shop.php *ERROR* 2021/11/05 - 22:32:39: Shop not found at line 404 in file classes/shop/Shop.php *ERROR* 2021/11/05 - 22:36:11: Shop not found at line 404 in file classes/shop/Shop.php *ERROR* 2021/11/05 - 22:38:51: Shop not found at line 404 in file classes/shop/Shop.php *ERROR* 2021/11/05 - 22:38:52: Shop not found at line 404 in file classes/shop/Shop.php *ERROR* 2021/11/05 - 22:39:14: Shop not found at line 404 in file classes/shop/Shop.php *ERROR* 2021/11/05 - 22:39:15: Shop not found at line 404 in file classes/shop/Shop.php *ERROR* 2021/11/05 - 22:44:05: Shop not found at line 404 in file classes/shop/Shop.php I cannot find an awful lot of info about this error. All i can say is that it literately happened from one moment to another. I have not tried to update or anything. If I use phpmyadmin to access the database, I can log on with the credentials provided in settings.inc.php. Does ANYONE have any help here? I am at a loss as where to continue looking. The only thing I can think of at the moment is to try to upgrade to 1.7, but I have no idea how to do that without access to the back Office. regards, Dave.
  4. Hi, I have just finished the migration from 1.6 to 1.7 of my prestashop store. Everything seems to have gone well, the database has been converted nicely, and the functionality is all there. But... I want to remove the "bank transfer" and "pay by cheque" options, but I am confronted with an error message: "Could not perform uninstall for module undefined" , ok, so maybe I need to see if I can upgrade the module before uninstalling it. But when I click on updates I get the following error: Oops... looks like an unexpected error occurred. Compile Error: require_once(): Failed opening required '/var/www/vhosts/daida.eu/public_html/modules/ps_crossselling/ps_crossselling.php' (include_path='/var/www/vhosts/solivera.us/httpdocs/vendor/pear/pear_exception:/var/www/vhosts/solivera.us/httpdocs/vendor/pear/console_getopt:/var/www/vhosts/solivera.us/httpdocs/vendor/pear/pear-core-minimal/src:/var/www/vhosts/solivera.us/httpdocs/vendor/pear/archive_tar:.:/opt/plesk/php/7.4/share/pear') [Symfony\Component\Debug\Exception\FatalErrorException 0] This is worrying as the error mentions the domain daida.eu, this is where I created the brand new presta 1.7 install before migrating the data from the old 1.6. After I was happy the install was running well, I then migrated all the data to the solivera.us domain. I made sure to follow the steps outlined in various documents, like disabeling and clearing cache, maintanace mode, changing the shop url etc. I have just made a phpmyadmin export of the database and I am surprised to see 317 mentions of the old domain (daida.eu) in the database, 102 of which are in the ps_log table. A heap of them are in ps_pagenotfound, Just to be clear, as the site needed to stay running while I was creating the new store, I installed presta 1.7 on the domain daida.eu. Then I used an upgrade tool to convert and transfer the solivera.us (1.6) database to the new daida.eu(1.7) site. After that I simply set all parameters on daida.eu to reflect the new solivera.us site, and copied database and files to the new solivera.us domain. it was both a conversion to 1.7 AND a move from one hosting provider to another. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to get rid of that error message above, that reffers to the daida.eu domain when trying to update modules? also, the error mentions a path /var/www/vhosts I cannot find that anywhere........ Thanks in advance, Dave. Update 14/06/2022 Apparently there is a thread that deals with this issue. It involves deleting old cache information in /var/cache.
  5. Hi Matt, I am having the exact same issue with 1.7.7.4. I have installed two or three times now, and I get the same issue every time. As it so happens I have an account with a different hosting provider, and just for sh*ts and giggles I tried to install there. And what would you know.. it worked first time. so my first attempt was with inMotion hosting, in the US, If I look at their one click application installers I see that they only have prestashop 1.6 on offer. My different host (VDX in the Netherlands) offers 1.7.7.4 as a one click application (though I am not using the one click, I was just interested in what was on offer), also other small differences leads me to believe that VDX is more up-to-date than inMotion. So perhaps the issue lies with the hosting provider. I wish I could tell you what the solution is, but these are just my findings. Regards, Dave.
  6. Hi, I have been having issues with a prestashop site, and I have had no reactions to a request for help, so I am trying a different approach. To solve the issues I am having on my 1.6 install I want to upgrade to 1.7. I happened to have a subdomain into which I have installed the latest version of 1.7, I created the database, and the whole installation went swimmingly. If I look at the front end after the install, I have a website populated with the demo items. BUT, when I try to access the backend, I am obviously asked from my credentials, which I enter, and then I am faced with a screen that simply says : Prestashop 1.7.7.4 and my shop name. I used the control panel to set the PHP version to 7.2, because during the installation it seemed that it was on 5.x by default. Does anyone have any idea as to what is going wrong? Thanks in advance, Dave.
  7. Hi, I noticed that when I select a category in the front end, my products were not showing, actually it was just a blank page. So I had a look in the backend, and when I click on "products" I also get a blank page, nothing on the screen at all. I made a backup of the database, and I can see that the table ps_products is populated, so the products are still in the DB. I was thinking that perhaps one of the core files has become corrupt, so I upgraded from 1.6.1.5 to 1.6.1.24, in the hope the files would be replaces with new ones. Still no joy. I have now disabled the custom theme we had, and now am getting at least something; In the front end a banner is displayed when I select a category, but no products, although the page says 6 products shown. In the backend I still have the issue that the screen is blank when I select "products" from the navigation menu. Other items like Orders, Categories, Customers works fine. If anyone has any insights I would much appreciate it. Regards, Dave.
  8. Hi, Prestashop 1.6.1.5 I am trying to change the featured products on the home page. The way I understand it, I need to go to the product page in the BO, and change the associated category. So at the moment I have prodyct X which is associated with two categories; Home page and its own category. If I unselect ´home Page´and save nothing happens. What I mean by that is that the tick mark dissapears, but I f i leve the product page and reenter, the tick mark is back. I have tried to change a price on the same product, and that works fine, but not the associated categories. Does anyone have any insight on this issue. I have tried turning off the cache, in case this is the issue, I have tried on Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Vivali and Opera, but no joy. Thanks in advance, Dave.
  9. Hi, I want to try to add the translate="no" tag to PS, but I don´t know where, and if it is at all possible. I want to see if I can prevent Google Chrome browsers offering to translate the Prestashop page if the language is different to the browser´s language. Dave.
  10. A bit more digging done.... if I switch off the caching altogether, at the bottom of the performance page, the content is updated on the browser. Dave.
  11. Hi, I am having a terrible time with (i think) a cache related issue. I have made a change to the content on a CMS page, saved the changes, and after I logon to the backoffice I see that the change has taken. so far so good. However.... if I fire up a browser The changes are not showing, so I have cleared the browser cache, and still the changes are not showing. I have tried this on Vivaldi, IE, Chrome and Firefox. So my next plan of attack is to clear the cache on the server, this is where I run into the first issue: What I usually do is the following: advance parameters -> performance 1 Turn off smarty cache and save 2 turn off all caches in CCC and save 3 clear cache 4 turn the caches back on and save. but, now when I try tho turn off the smarty cache, and save, the new setting won´t stick. That is issue #1 Because I don´t trust the back office anymore, I have manually deleted all files via ftp, in: cache/smarty/cache (except index.php) cache/smarty/compile (again except index.php) But still my CMS update is not visible in the browsers, no matter how often i mash ctrl-F5. I forgot to mention, this is Prestashop 1.6.1.24 Does anyone know how to solve my problems? Regards, Dave.
  12. excellent, just what I was looking for! Thanks! still works in 1.6.1.24
Dave.
  14. About three weeks ago I also started receiving Spam from mail.ru. I have installed the free eicapture module, and although the spam has decreased from 50+ per day, I am still getting a few. So I am not sure how they are doing this. from what I have read they bypass the contact form altogether and target the contact controller directly. Presuming I have installed the module correctly (it shows up in my contact form, and if I do not confirm that I am not a robot, no mail is sent) the spammer must have a different way of abusing the system. Is there a definitive solution to this problem? Dave.
