Manage empty spaces when no right and/or left modules are activated at all

Hello,

Now I know how to show the cart module only to someone who is connected on the prestashop website.

When someone is connected there is normally always at least the cart module on the right of the page and the my account module on the left, so no empty space issue.

But, if for the home page for example if have deactivated all left modules, there is an empty space appearing on the right, and if there is not even the cart module activated then a second empty space appears on the right.

Is there a clean way to make for instance the main content area (at the centre by default) expand its width to fill the empty spaces when the left modules and/or the right modules are all deactivated?

I'm using the default prestashop theme/template.
