PrestaShop 1.4 Beta version will be upgradable with the final version ?

I.E., can I use it to prepare the a future production store and upgrade it using the future final version?

I ask this because I in need to start preparing a little store but I didn't want to use the "soon outdated" 1.3.6 version.

Thanks,
J

I've been going forward with this assumption, and I haven't run into anything terribly complicated yet. I started building out my store at 1.4 beta 1. Since beta 4, I have been occasionally updating with SVN releases to keep up. I was about to update to beta 5 when I noticed your post.

My approach is to compare the latest version to the base of the version I am on using WinMerge and note the differences. If the change is minor and doesn't affect my customizations, I pretty much take it completely. If the difference is major or affects a file in which I have custom code, I spend more time to analyze. So far, it's only taken a couple of hours to update with this approach.

I'm about to begin the upgrade from 1.4.0.8 to 1.4.0.9, so I'll let you know how it goes. I also chose to go live with the beta, so we'll see how well that works ;-)

Lot's of people have asked, but I don't think even the PS team knows for sure - they have to make sure there are no major bugs first. So "soon" is probably the best they can tell you. We're pretty high into the betas, though, so I would guess in the next two weeks.

Hi,

@Everybody: Yes you can easily upgrade between alpha -> beta, beta -> beta and beta -> final

@Everybody: Be careful while you are upgrading from SVN version (= before the release) to another SVN version, sometimes you have to re-install from scratch or to check the changes in the 1.4.0.x.sql file (we modify it a lot before the release)

@jvidia & @jfriday: Very soon, currently we have released a new version each week on Wenesday! The dev team is working VERY hard to release as soon as possible this stable version. However, we can't say, it depends on the bug to fix before this release, and it can take a few moments again. By "very soon" I mean a few days... or weeks but no more :)

Regards,
