Ken
Hi, could someone on the Prestashop team please respond to this. Re 1.7.4.2 still requiring PHP Fileinfo extension, I remember reading (in the forum, I think) that the PHP extension was a requirement in an included module and that it would be remedied. I have printed the 1.7 documentation thinking that I would rather start my shop on the latest release rather than trying to do a major upgrade soon after. I have read many comments advising to activate the Fileinfo extension, but my hosting company refuses to do this on the ground that it is vulnerable to denial of service attacks. What I would like to know is; must I install 1.6 or how soon will the Fileinfo problem be attended to?
selectshop.at
You never will receive answer from Prestashop Team in forum. Their presence here is very rare. You are on shared host ? If yes, than take a vps or a dedicated server package. Search for another hosting company. There are several possibilities to secure a server, it is not true that by installing php-fileinfo extension your server is not secure. They simply won't or they don't know how to administer a server correctly. BTW: This extension is enabled by default as of PHP 5.3.0. onwards as replacement to PECL. Which php-version are you using to install PS 1.7. ?
