Which JS File is responsible for swapping newproducts <-> specialprices

I'd like to write my own javascript to add a link or change the existing link on the frontpage where you swap between new products and price drop (new products block, price-drop block).

Can you point me into that direction? I tried several stuff but somehow my jquery code cannot access $('#home-page-tabs .active a'). Somehow it can't find the .active class even though it does exist. So I thought, maybe my javascript file runs before the index.js which actually adds the "active"-class to the li that is active..
