PayPal redirect produces fatal error

Good day,

I am using the prestashop PayPal module in my store and started selling yesterday. A small number of customers reported that they had some trouble with it. After they completed the payment on PayPal and they got redirected to the store, they only received an "fatal error message" and the order didn't go through. On the backend, there's no order associated with the customer, while my paypal account shows the payment.

Unfortunately, none of those affected provided me with more detail on the nature of the error, and I can't reproduce it on my end. But I was hoping some of you might have run into the same issue and can provide a solution based on my vague description.
